Mark Your Calendars! Entries for the next Pukemire Station Cadetship Tararua Shepherd of the Year will open in late 2025.
The Aim.
The aim of the competition is to promote pathways for career advancement in the sheep and beef industry. We seek passionate and motivated Shepherds.
Criteria.
The competition is open to Shepherds between 19 and 27 years of age (on 1st April 2024) and currently working on a sheep and beef farm in the Tararua Region.
The term “Shepherd” also includes Head Shepherd and Shepherd General, but NOT Stock Manager or Manager who makes management decisions.
An on-farm judging day will be held in mid - late March where you be assessed via a mix of practical challenges and an interview. Judges will review your CV, entry form and may complete reference checks.
The organising committee has full discretion on the eligibility of entry on a case-by-case basis
